Beschreibung

Symmetrical Bragg reflection channel-cut crystals are used for in-line X-ray beam conditioning, namely for monochromatization and collimation. In addition, asymmetrical channel-cut crystals with unequal asymmetries provide beam footprint conditioning (1D and 2D beam compression and expansion).

The design and application of Ge beam compressors to shorten SAXS setups and the application of Bragg magnifiers for phase contrast imaging will be presented for laboratory and synchrotron sources.

Technological limits to increase the asymmetry will be outlined and a way to improve the precision of surface shape, to decrease the surface roughness and subsurface damage, mainly using a nanomachining technique, single point diamond technology (SPDT), will be presented.
